What Do Meditation and Going to Sleep Have in Common?

I want to tell you a brief story about a time when I healed two chronic, lifelong diagnoses when I was 25 years old…

When I got news of these two conditions, I immediately went home and started making changes. At least, after I made a living room floor bed for myself and bing watched The Secret on Netflix 20 times. I first started with absolutely REFUSING these two conditions.

I was unwilling to accept that this was my reality. It was not going to fly with me. And I did various things over the course of 6 months and when I went back to the doctor they didn’t know how my conditions were gone, as there is no cure for either of them…

I’m sharing this with you today because the mind is so damn powerful when we face it and shift it.

And I want to share that what meditation and going to bed both have in common is that they both require that you FACE YOURSELF. Something I REALLY had to do when I got these diagnoses 5 years ago. You have to face your:

  • Thoughts

  • Your emotions

  • Any sadness about the past

  • Any anxiety about the future

What meditation and going to sleep at night do is they bring your attention inward, and most people don’t want to go there.

Most people don’t want to slow down. Because if we slow down, we start to hear our thoughts, and our thoughts are not always friendly & kind.

A lot of us have a virus in our minds, a voice that is mostly negative, controlling, and mean to us the majority of the time. Thinking has become an addiction. Why is thinking an addiction?

Because most of us are not able to STOP thinking. Most of us are not in control of our thoughts, of the exact words and phrases running through our brains all day every day; from morning to night. Most of us are unaware of just how much these thoughts impact us every single day. And days add up to…

Weeks, months, years, …and then our entire lifetimes.

But the good news is this:

We can shift and change all of this. We can get to a place of peace, where we aren’t afraid of, or avoiding, slowing down and being alone with ourselves and our thoughts. It’s a long journey but one that will reap benefits for the rest of our time here on this planet. And I can show you how.

If you are feeling tired and run down by your thoughts & emotions, I can help you. Because this is what I do all day every day with my life coaching clients.

And change IS possible, even if you think there is nothing left you could try. Because if I can do it, anyone can.
