15 of My Best Life Hacks

Let’s get straight into it!

  1. Masculine and Feminine balance is crucial.
Much of modern society is operating from the masculine - doing, intellectualizing, thinking, planning, going, the never-ending to-do list, etc. So many of us struggle with slowing down, putting ourselves first, self-care, sitting in silence, having pockets of time without stimulation or screens or people or learning or things to do. The feminine is embodiment, it’s slowness, it’s peace, it’s stillness, it’s quiet, it’s meditation, yoga, hot baths. It’s time without people and without screens. It’s time in nature. It’s remembering how good it feels to just relax.

  2. Just BEING is enough.
A lot of us (especially those who are spiritual/religious) believe that we came here for a specific purpose. I’m sure that could be true! But sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to figure out and fulfill this purpose. We forget that as spiritual beings having a human experience - just existing is enough. Just living this human life, even if we sat on the couch our whole lifetime, is actually enough. Because we are here to experience what it means to be human. So taking the pressure off can help us remember that it doesn’t have to be so serious, heavy, or pressure-inducing. Just exist…and see where that takes you!

  3. Our beliefs are extremely powerful AND NOT ALWAYS TRUE.
Many of us take our thoughts, our beliefs, and the stories we tell ourselves as facts. We fully believe them and then let them make us feel things and do things. But beliefs and thoughts are not facts. We forget to lovingly challenge our own thoughts. Beliefs are like glasses through which we are viewing the entire world. We can choose what we want to believe and from that space, so much more peace, presence, trust, hope, and confidence can arise. Curious how to shift beliefs? Check out my blog post How to Change Your Beliefs!

  4. Things can always be better.
Even if we are in jobs we hate. Even if our health is crap. Even if we are so stressed out, overwhelmed, and running around because we have a million things to do. Things can always get better. Even when we think that they can’t. I have clients that set goals, and one of the first things I like to explore is how to make life better NOW while you are on the way to these goals. Budgeting your finances can be more enjoyable (I love monday dates where I create a feel-good ritual around it), finding a new job can be more enjoyable, getting your health back in order can be more enjoyable - we just have to ask ourselves HOW. What could make this better?

  5. Patterns are very enlightening.
Our brains do this cute, fun little thing where they think negative things are permanent and nothing will ever change. A valid fear, of course! As that is a lot of our biggest fear: things suck and they will always suck. We think that certain things have been going on forever until someone asks them “When did this start?” Or “What is the pattern here and how can we break it?”

Some of us go through these patterns and cycles but there is always a reason for it as well as there is always a way to break those patterns. Maybe every time we change jobs is after a breakup and making that choice from a space of sadness gets us back into the wrong job. Maybe we only stay healthy when we’re dating and that’s why we keep falling off. You get the idea, it can be anything. Looking at these patterns and what was going on more closely can brings loads of helpful insight.

  6. Knowledge is power and knowledge can easily be accessed through research.
There are so many things I’ve learned in life that felt like they blew off the lid to my brain; those moments when everything made so much more sense and things became easier and better. Like when I learned about attachment styles, every relationship I have and have ever had made more sense, my ability to pick good & solid people around me got so much better. When I learned Ayurveda and got my health so much better and faster than anything else I’ve tried.

When we learn, research, Google, and YouTube things - we can find a plethora of helpful information. Your biggest questions have often been answered by many people who are eager to share the information with you, whether you want to Feng Shui your house, get better at dating, or figure out your life purpose using Astrology - remember you have power in research and learning. A lot of things clients ask me I encourage them to ask back to themselves, and to research, and of course I share suggestions with them as well. Knowledge is power.

  7. Men and Women are SO different and we so often forget that.
How we should work out is different. How we should eat is different. Men and women even each have ideal career categories that they are not always aware of. We have different values (men value hard work, providing, protecting, etc while women tend to value nurting, security, caretaking, etc). We have different levels of stress we can handle. We tolerate cold and heat differently - there are so many things. Studying this can be very helpful, especially in relationships of all kinds. When we know our differences we can adjust to each other and not assume that what makes us happy will make them happy.

  8. We are microcosms of the macrocosm.
?We have an inner family in our minds - ever hear voices in your head that argue with each other?! But we also have families outside of us too. Our bodies have their own seasons (the circadian rhythm which correlates to certain times of day that certain organs and body systems are active or dormant). Our bodies are composed of the 5 elements just as nature is (some of us have too much air, fire, earth, ether, or water and you can find that out using Ayurveda).

We have death and rebirth in and on our bodies (we get wounded and then we heal). Everything that is outside of us, as big as the entire universe, also exists within ourselves. When we learn this, we can adjust our outer life to be better and it will affect our inner life. We can also adjust our inner life to be better and it will affect our outer life too. We are deeply connected to everything else in existence.

  9. Astrology is one of the most powerful and scarily accurate self-awareness tools that exists.
So much of who we are, what our life is about, our purpose, ideal careers, how we show up in relationships, our wounds, our “fate” (although we still have free will) can be learned through our Astrology. Whether we are an extrovert, introvert, whether our life is more about ourselves or more about relationships. Of course Astrology does not account for life experiences and free will, but in my studies to become an Astrologer, this stuff is much more accurate than you’d believe and you will only find that out if you take a deep dive into it - which means going much BEYOND just your sun, moon, rising signs. 10. We are not all meant to manifest/make things happen in the same way.
And I only learned this through Human Design. Some of us ARE meant to go after things BUT some of us…are actually meant to respond to what is coming to us. I am a classic Generator in Human Design. Which means I am meant to follow what excites me, using my gut, and respond to what is coming at me. This gets so detailed.

Down to the environment you should be eating in. Down to the faces or noises you make being your intuition already telling you the answer (when I’m not really into something/don’t want something my nose crinkles up or I go “Ehhhhh …. I don’t know….” That type of stuff. Some of us are more “emotional” and need others who are “unemotional,” (their baseline/default mode is calm) and vice versa. Some of us need to be using our gut for answers while others are supposed to use their emotions.

Human Design is an excellent way to learn how you should be manifesting, what careers would be best for you, life purpose work, etc. Learn more about Human Design - and your specific chart - with the My Human Design website by Jenna Zoe.

  11. We can handle ANYTHING in life if we can learn how to feel & process our emotions in a healthy way.
Life is just feelings at the end of the day. That’s all it is. Events happen, which makes us feel things and think thoughts and do things. Breakups are an intense level of sadness. Job losses are an intense level of stress. Injustice is an intense level of anger. The issue is many of us feel really intensely but we don’t fully LET ourselves feel the emotion. We distract, numb out, do whatever to stop feeling. We shop, eat, drink alcohol, take drugs, scroll on our phone - we do anything to avoid feeling.

The inability to sit with and process emotions is also what drives addictions and binges of all kinds. We can stop this! Emotions have an arc. They start, they peak, and they go down IF we let ourselves sit with and just BE with them until they pass. The more we sit with what is coming up and NOT reach for the phone or the wallet or the bottle, the more of life we can easily handle. And the healthier and happier we will be because we will not be carrying around a bunch of suppressed emotions, which can cause disease and emotional overwhelm. If you sit with your feelings (like we are meant to) you will see they are not as intense as you think, they WILL pass, and the emotion will NOT last forever.

  12. We are actually made of various parts, not just one mind.
You ever have arguments with yourself? Or you say you will do one thing and you do another? Yeah - that is because those are actual separate, distinct parts of yourself. Wild, right? We have inner child, inner critic, inner spender, inner drill seargants, we have inner everything. We have life experienes that create breaks in our psyches which creates distinct parts of ourselves. They are all trying to protect us, but it can get messy and FAST.

A lot of inner conflict, lack of self-trust, lack of following through, etc can be tied to our parts. We can get to know our parts, talk back to them, work with them, and help them heal and integrate into our core Authentic Self (the main part of us we are born with that is underneath all the parts, and this core authentic part of us is confident, grounded, calm, curious, compassionate, etc). This work is very healing and works very quickly becuase it honors all the parts of us and helps us re-parent all those parts in loving, but boundaries, ways. That way we are on the same page with ourselves. No more self-sabotage, no more criticizing ourselves, just supportive and loving self-talk. Learn more about Parts Work here!

  13. Each day is a new life.
Each day is a new beginning, and each night we die a mini death. This is helpful to remember because each day we can start again. Each day we can practice those healthy habits. Each day we can look for more aligned work. Each day we can practice living a balanced, peaceful, happy life. Each day we can practice being more positive, present, and patient with ourselves.

  14. How we start and end our days is extremely powerful.
Morning and evening routines and rituals are so underreated. If we start our day rushing, and end our days on our phones in our beds, it’s likely that we are in a constant state of underlying stress and overstimulation. Starting your day slowly and with intention, is very powerful. Ending our day with intention and relaxing activities is also helpful in promoting actually restful sleep. These rituals can be anything - walks, yoga, meditation, baths, journaling, reading, writing, lighting a candle, setting an intention, praying about what you want or what you’re struggling with or what you’re grateful for, you can use tarot or oracle cards - you can really do anything in your morning and evening routines. Whatever feels GOOD. Capping the beginnings and endings of your day can totally change your life. Because days add up to weeks add up to months add up to years!

  15. There are many more spiritual, open, and trusting ways to manifest things - new age manifestation tends to be shallow, selfish, and materialistic.
Most manifesting techniques involve talking to God/Goddess/Source/Spiritu/Universe/The Creator (whatever you prefer to call it) and asking for what you want. I realized a long time ago that this method is flawed. Not only is it selfish and shallow, it’s also very narrow-minded and doesn’t account for what is actually best for you. Most people are manifesting money, jobs, or material posessions too. Which don’t get me wrong! I love money, good work, and things too :) But perhaps we can make our wishes more vague and be open to what the Universe has in store for us for the benefit of all. Perhaps we don’t need to be so specific and rigid. Perhaps requests could look more like “Help me find the perfect next aligned career” or “Help me feel more abundant and trust that you are the ultimate source of all money and security,” or “Help me find the next aligned car that I can easily afford.” Check out Tosha Silver’s book Outrageous Oppenness for a more spiritual, open, selfless way of manifesting that actually works better :)

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! There are many more hacks I could share…but I’ll stop here and maybe I’ll create a part 2!
