I feel like I made this term up and I’m really proud of myself for it.
If I didn’t then you can definitely slap me and tell me to get off my high horse………
Of all the times I tried to sit down and force myself to feel gratitude, I found that sometimes the pressure made me not feel a damn thing. That is why I came up with the term “organic gratitude”. To me, it means that huge wave of immense gratitude that washes over you out of nowhere and you think about how much in love with life you are.

But anyway, this organic gratitude to me is much more real and much more powerful. I do think that if we can practice it daily, it will trickle into our minds more often and happen on its own. There have been days where I sat down and had a gratitude journal and once I started to get going I really felt the feelings, but mostly I have felt some resistance and lack of emotion. I’m guessing from the pressure to feel the emotion.
So I encourage you to practice organic gratitude. Those moments when you’re driving and thinking about all of the good things you have going in your life right now. Those times when you’re looking into your animal’s eyes and thinking about how stupid much you love them. Or those times you are hugging somebody that you deeply love and are so thankful for them. I think sometimes when we put too much pressure on something it can ruin it, so maybe this new perspective will help you, it surely helped me.
