I’m just gonna put this right here…

“You have to think beyond what you feel” - Dr. Joe Dispenza

AMAZING, RIGHT?

I feel like in life when there is a serious problem, say addiction for example, there is a tendency for everyone involved or around to constantly focus on the issue and put pressure on the person trying to change.

Addiction runs in my family. Drugs, alcohol, abuse, addiction to stress hormones. Recently someone in my family has wanted to break the cycle, break the addiction. But everyone else in the family is always so focused on this person messing up, relapsing, or acting out again. Increasing the likelihood that this person will mess up again. Almost as if a snake is literally eating its own tail. “What we think about, we bring about” - The Secret on Netflix.

I honestly don’t think we can get far when we are focusing on the problem

But instead, if we focused on the possible solutions. Focused on how we want to feel, focused on the outcomes that we want to happen. For example focusing on healing instead of addiction. Focusing on the good behaviors instead of expecting more of the bad ones. Focusing on what we love about our partners, kids, co-workers, friends instead of how much of a low spot the relationship is in *thank you The Secret documentary on Netflix. Focusing on how we want to be, instead of only honing in on the shadow aspects of ourselves and others 24/7.

I know it’s all too easy to focus on the problems, on the negative, and it’s supposed to be that way. The ego, the thoughts, the mind want to protect us in this way but it’s rarely beneficial and rarely true. The good path is supposed to be the harder one. We gotta put in the work and get after it if we want it. That makes us appreciate it a lot more.

Focusing on what we do want, on the good, also kickstarts the Law of Attraction to come into play

Think about it, “where attention goes, energy flows”, says one of the many wise teachers from The Secret documentary on Netflix. Man, Netflix has been around a long time huh? I remember seeing that documentary for the first time when I was only 14! Damn that was 14 years ago….now I feel old…anyway…

If we really have that much power with our thoughts and minds alone, imagine what shifting that focus would do. If we go to a family holiday gathering and are dreading it and thinking of all the possible terrible scenarios, playing future memory videos in our heads and then feeling the associated feelings we will feel when they happen, then chances are it will go terribly! I believe there is also some immense freedom in just saying what we think and realizing that everyone else was actually thinking the same way. Being open, honest, truthful and pointing out that things don’t have to go the way they have always gone. But I digress!

Another nugget of wisdom I’d like to share here is a message from the incredible book You Are A Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero. She mentions how certain people trust their minds over their actual physical reality. Sounds nuts, right?! But it’s true, and it’s how they get such great results. They actually don’t look around and just take what they see and experience for face value, but instead laser focus their minds on their dream, on abundance, on the possibilities.

Another cool thing she talks about when thinking about large amounts of money, making a massive purchase, or manifesting money for something is that she says not to think “I can’t afford that” but “how can I afford that” and playing with the idea that it’s actually possible. Shifting from, “there’s no way” to “I will find a way”. This can be applied to anything, any scenario, any goal, any situation involving you and other people. It comes down to cracking open our minds and our beliefs about what is possible.

I feel the need to repeat this so I’m going to;

“You have to think beyond what you feel”

You have to push through the harsh reality in front of you. I know it is super hard. I know it sounds insane that our minds can alter our physical world and lives, but they really can. I know sometimes when we are down in that rut it seems like we may never get out. But guess what, we always do. Life never stays bad forever, things never suck forever, the lows and the downs don’t last, life will always go back up.

So get beyond your mind, focus on what you do want, and spread this message to others, especially if multiple people are focusing on a problem - for example in a family of addiction focusing on one person who keeps screwing up - changing our thought process will be even more powerful because if many people will have the same intention with their combined energies it will become much stronger.

It’s almost as if when we do this, the pressure gets diffused and released off of the person screwing up. When we focus so much on something it’s almost inevitable that this thing will happen, and repeatedly.

Examples

If we’ve been hurt, we can focus on repair and the plethora of available healing modalities instead of depression.

If we have anger issues, we can focus on healthy ways to disperse that anger like martial arts, primal scream therapy in nature, or tapping.

If we are broke AF we can focus on how we can make more money and research how to up-level our money relationship and mindset - like maybe by checking out the life-changing books Uplevel Your Money Mindset and Manifest $1,000 in 21 Days by Kathrin Zenkina and You Are A Badass At Making Money by Jen Sincero.

If we are in a partnership that’s in the dumps but we want to make it work we can write down everything we love about them for 30 days straight *a seriously POWERFUL exercise from The Secret.

If we feel sad because we are evolving out of our old friendships and they are falling away we could focus on how much space has been made for brand new, deep friendships to come along and the possible ways and places we could meet these new friends.

If we are manifesting something we could wake up everyday and think “I wonder if it’s here, I wonder if it’s going to show up today!” And eagerly go about our day being excited that at any freaking minute what we want is literally going to appear.

I promise you, if you take your focus off the problem and onto the solution, it will change your life.
