what is cycle syncing? where to start
this information is based off of the incredible, life-changing book In the Flo by Alyssa Vitti
cycle syncing will heal all PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, and other women’s reproductive issues. You can find everything you need to know in her book, this is just a short introduction to the topic.
Cycle Syncing is, in short, living in accordance with our natural monthly cycles.
Throughout the month we go through 4 phases and during those phases we have different hormone and energy levels. So when we align with that and adjust our lives around that we tap into more creativity, more energy, healed hormones, better relationships, better businesses, and many more amazing benefits.
It creates a wonderful harmony for us, to live cyclically like us women are supposed to; similar to the moon and the moons’ 28 (or so) day cycle. Some weeks we are more social, some weeks we are more introverted, some weeks we are flirty and confident, and other weeks we need to be alone as much as possible and rest, rest, rest - I bet you could guess what phase that was is for, definitely the menstrual phase.
Here are the 4 phases and how we can align with them;
Follicular phase;
this is when we are opening up, it’s our inner spring, coming out of hibernation from the menstrual phase. Hormones are low, we are open to new things, new beginnings, creativity. What do you want in your life? What are your intentions for the month? Doing 30 minutes of dance workouts is best for this phase. In her book she goes over what to focus on in your relationships, business, self-care, and skincare routines as well.

this is our inner summer, we are flirty, confident, networking and being social is great for this time. The verbal and social centers of the brain are stimulated by the hormones released in this phase. Have important conversations, connect with your community, lean into your extra boost of magnetism during this time. Doing 15-30 minutes of HIIT is good for this phase. My favorite HIIT workouts are the ones by Emi Wong on YouTube; Emi Wong's Youtube WorkoutsLuteal phase;
this is our inner fall, we are starting to slow down and become more introverted. This phase is when we would usually have PMS but following Alyssa’s book with her suggested workouts, foods, and other forms of living in flow with your cycle WILL heal all of your PMS. I had horrible PMS before I found her book including debilitating cramps.
The first half of this phase it’s okay to be social, but the 2nd half of this phase it’s good to start being alone. Intense yoga is great for the first half of this phase, then mat pilates even leading into yin yoga is best for the second half of this phase . Banana Blondie YogaMenstrual phase; this phase is our inner winter, our hormone levels drop, we need to spend alone time as much as possible, we can do things like taking baths, journaling, reflecting on the month, meditation, yin yoga, walking, using essential oils, taking naps, getting rest. We can use this time to dig into data, analyze our lives, our businesses, ask ourselves if we are going where we want to be going and if not how can we shift so we get there? It’s best to rest as much as possible in this phase and to be alone as much as possible in this phase.
Cycle Syncing will definitely change any woman’s life. If you are on birth control Alyssa talks about how toxic it is in her book, which I highly recommending grabbing yourself a copy. When we embrace our cycles instead of repress them, we embrace our full intuition and powers as women. Our bodies natural bio-rhythms are supposed to happen and when we honor those, all other areas of our lives change. There are also natural forms of birth control which can be researched upon and utilized if that is something that you desire.
